Stage Tynemouth is a Youth Theatre and Contemporary Dance School located in Tynemouth.  We are strongly dedicated to providing high quality performing arts training for young people aged from 5 to 18 years old. Pupils can expect to gain skills in all areas of Drama, Contemporary Dance, Physical Theatre and Singing.

 

 

About us

 

Christina Dawson

 

Christina set up Stage Tynemouth in 2004. As well as running the school, she facilitates sessions and directs productions. Christina is a professional actress and works as a freelance Drama Facilitator and Director. She is a licenced chaperone.

 

In 2016, Christina appeared in 'Key Change' which was transfered to Broadway. Please find her CV below including future acting work. Christina is represented by Janet Plater.

Beverley Knight 

 

Beverley is the school's Dance and Movement Facilitator and Assistant Director. She is a trained dancer and teacher of dance. Beverley is also a qualifield primary school teacher, Arts Administrator/Box Office Mananger for The Exchange and a Dance Development Officer for Newcastle PE and Sport Service. She is a licenced chaperone.

 

Val Dawson

 

Val is the school's Administrator and general fairy godmother. She is a licenced chaperone.

 

Alex Chidambaram

 

Alex, a former pupil, has now become one of our valued staff members. Alex is currently completing his teacher training cource in Durham. He is a talented actor and writer who has worked with local companies including Cloud Nine and November Club.

 

Rich Judson

 

Rich is a freelance musician, vocal coach and musical director.  He studied music at York St. John followed by a masters degree in voal performance at the Universtiy of Newcastle.  He performs regualry with bands and ensembes alongside teaching in schools, colleges and his private practice Riverside Studio in Washington. 

 

As well as the above permanent staff, Christina is always keen to have other professional artists and facilitators work with the pupils and often has other singing tutors, writers, directors and actors run workshops or work towards a particular project.

 

Karen Traynor

 

Karen is an actor, freelance theatre director and drama facilitator with over 20 years experience, working with renowed threatre companies regionally and internationally such as The Royal Shakespear Company, Hull Truck, The Young Vic, Theatre by the Lake, Royal Lyceum Edinburgh, and some more close to home including Live Theatre and Northern Stage.

Our classes run every Saturday at 'Church of the Holy Saviour Parish Hall, Manor Road, Tynemouth.

 

Juniors         11am-1pm

Pre-Seniors  1pm-3pm

Seniors        3pm-5pm
